lunch hour

kitchenlife cookbook

Today I'm going to try one of the recipes from my new cookbook. I'll make the salad with avocado, apple, pomegranete and mint. Sounds okay right?!

La Famille has released a cookbook of their Moroccan-Italian recipes.
The cookbook was a gift from my friend and workshop partner Ank, because it's one of our favorite lunch places in the Medina.

keen on flowers and plants

kitchen flowers vase d'avril kitchen flowers

This whole week I've enjoyed the spring flowers in the kitchen.
The flowers I got from my friend Rosa last Friday. Together with my daughter, she chose the spring beauties, in the flower shop where Pippa works.
They know what I like...

In an interview for Home & Garden, I once said, I'm not too keen on houseplants, but crazy about flowers. Plants and flowers get along fine together in our house nowadays. The reason I prefered flowers, was because they are gone after a week and it's time for something new.

You know by now, that I have revised my opinion about houseplants and I still get overjoyed by fresh flowers.

Another unique handmade piece!

For the stool legs I used different types of scrap wood, both sides have a different look.
On one side is pastel green and on the other side is made of pale grey wood.
The white crochet cover I've made with moroccan yarn.

You can find the brandnew WOODWOOLSTOOL in the shop.
It's one of a kind.

budding bougainvillea leaves

bougainvillea bougainvillea bougainvillea

The new leaves of the Bougainvillea in the kitchen windowsill are turning pink again.

This week I noticed the first pink leaves (yay!), followed by more after only a few days.
First signs of spring!

The window sill is a bright, sunny growing location and I hope within a while I can move the plant back in the backyard.

Sunshine is the most important requirement for this blooming beauty. The same goes for me...

‘De Holland’ building in my hometown Dordrecht was designed by the quirky architect Sybold van Ravesteyn in 1939.

Nowadays the National Museum of Education is located in the restored building.
Although we pass the building almost weekly, we never had a look inside.
Well it often occurs, you don't visit the 'tourist attractions' in your hometown, like you would in other cities, right?

So we went inside the museum last weekend and were impressed by the interior, light and collection. We had lunch in the 'managers office' of the former insurance company De Holland. The cutlery cases in the restaurant are handmade from old maps. Guess what country was on the map I got?
